Pics from CD launch gig

Rosey R*E*P*E*A*T took some great snaps of all the bands who played at the 'Rocket to Romsey' CD launch party at the Portland Arms last week. Awesome stuff from DNR, Spaghetti Faction, Rats As Big As Dogs and Beverley Kills (and us, obviously)!

Live in December!

Next week we're playing the Cornerhouse (7 December) with Trouser Crisis and April's Ghost. Free entry. Come and rock your socks off!

'Rocket to Romsey' CD launch party!

This Saturday we're playing at the launch party for the new R*E*P*E*A*T records compilation CD, 'Rocket to Romsey'. Five bands, lots of fun, and the chance to buy the (double) CD a bit cheaper than usual.

The CD features 24 tracks from 12 bands, from Cambridgeshire and surrounding areas - in support of Love Music Hate Racism.

See you at the Portland Arms on Saturday!

Ale, ale rock'n'roll! Back at The Elm Tree!

Next up we're back at our favourite little real ale and Belgian beer bar, The Elm Tree (11 November).  It's always great to play at the Elm, with a fantastic atmosphere for an up-close-and-personal gig like this. 'Well-kept beer, hairy bar staff', as the sign outside sometimes reads.
It's free entry, so no excuse not to come and party!

Wish You Were (T)here 2012

We want to say a big big thanks to everyone who stuck around to see us close the Legends Bar stage at this year's Wish You Were Here festival, following a monster set by the fantastic Hey Sholay.

Rosey R*E*P*E*A*T took photos of the proceedings, including the one below (which we took the liberty of fiddling with in PhotoShop so you can see us through the pink haze).

Thanks to the WYWH organisers for having us!

Ultrazang at the John Peel Centre

Big thanks to everyone who came out to Ultrazang on Saturday! We had a great time, despite Huw being encased in a plastic box for the benefit of the sound recording - the whole night was filmed as part of a show reel for the Centre, so you'll be able to see some of it on youtube no doubt soonish.

In the meantime, check out our images page to see some awesome pics taken by photographer Henry Murphy!

Monday 5 March 2012

Scissors back at the 'Zang, this time with Peel appeal!

We had a great time at Ultrazang last year - the best night out in Ipswich!  So we were jolly pleased to be asked to play again at the 'Zang's new home, the John Peel Centre for Creative Arts in Stowmarket.

And doubly pleased to be playing with our chums the Voodoo Trombone Quartet, purveying their eclectic brand of exotica/lounge/ska. Don't let the name deceive you either, for they are, confusingly, an eight piece...

Also on are our good friends Butterfly, with their lovely psych-prog stylings, and a fantastic solo guitarist, Rob Castellani.  We've seen him in action before and he has to be heard to be believed!

This is going to be one awesome night, we can't wait...

31 March,  John Peel Centre,
Church Walk, Stowmarket IP14 1ET

This Saturday's gig - we're not playing, sorry!

Due to unforseen circumstances, we're no longer playing this Saturday at Cambridge Man On The Moon. It'll still be an awesome gig, but it just won't have us in it.
Next chance to catch us live will be 31 March at the John Peel Centre for Creative Arts in Stowmarket. Hope to see you there!

Monday 27 February 2012

The Scissors on Local Sound in March

The Scissors feature on the March edition of Local Sound, a fairly new podcast promoting up and coming / unsigned bands in the UK. Check out the show on Wednesday!

Sunday 15 January 2012

New year, new gigs!

We're sorting out the gig calendar for the upcoming months.  First up,  a private party down in London for a good friend of the Scissors on 21 January;
Then in March we're back at our local Man On The Moon (10 March, other acts TBC),
and on 31 March we're excited to be playing at the new John Peel Centre for Creative Arts, with the fantastic Voodoo Trombone Quartet.

For more info, check out our gigs page!

Tuesday 3 January 2012

The Scissors on Cambridge Riffs, December 2011

The Scissors feature on the December Cambridge Riffs podcast alongside a load of other great stuff. Please go check it out, it's a great eclectic smorgesbord of aural education and enjoyment!

'SOS' in drag

We also opened with a more conventional cover of ABBA's 'SOS'. Well, a bit more conventional.

'Does your mother know?' / 'Anarchy in the UK'

We mashed up ABBA with the Sex Pistols at the R*E*P*E*A*T anti-xmas/new year party. In drag, as you do...
